I am incredibly saddened that there is no Thornhill Summer Skate. It has been a family tradition for 20 years now and it had been around for many years before I first went there. It’s where I first saw and met so many talented young skaters over the years, and had the first glimpses of programs from the elites. It’s where I first saw V&M Skate their Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Mahler. Where I saw Evan Lysachek win a North American Challenge Skate as a Junior. Where Dube & Davison skated their first competition, and so many other great memories. Every year we had plane loads of kids from Japan come for summer schools at Mariposa, the Cricket and the Granite Club, giving us the opportunity to see some rising stars from other countries.

I am so going to miss that event.
