Here is an article.

http://www.asahi.com/sports/update/0311/TKY201003110450.html

Hopefully there is someone who can translate it in Japanese. According to people on the forum who posted it who do understand it she has drained all her funds and is broke but is still desperate for money to skate.

I will try and find some others I saw a couple months ago too.

Absoutely wrong, again. All this article states is that Fumie held a press conference because she needs money to skate. The main quote here from Fumie is, "I get no funding" (meaning from the JSF), and therefore she needs (needED, since she got it) sponsorship in order to skate. The article goes on to say it is unusual of someone of her age to skate and that companies will be hesitant to sponsor someone of her age at this point in her career. Again a moot point, as she has sponsorship. The article also says that due to not getting funding, she has been forced to use money from her savings, but this is not unusual. When buying a car, one also uses their savings. Your "sources" need to keep practicing their Japanese.

Nothing about being broke, because it is not true.

This is not from her most recent press conference where she talks about her father looking for work. This article is from last November and only talks about her need to find a sponsor to continue on to Tokyo Worlds.

There was an article posted on Japanese Yahoo, but I can't find it now.

Not really surprised bout this one, but Annabelle Langlois has opted to retire. Sad But I'm happy that they were able to compete in Vancouver and skate so well there!

Cody Hay, interestingly enough, hopes to find a new partner (Mylene Brodeur, perhaps??) and continue through Sochi. No specific mention either if he plans to train under Lee Barkell.

Your thoughts...

Not surprised re her retirement - tough choice I'm sure. It sounds like sheplans to coach and study psychology and I wish her the best! With her experience, she has so much to offer younger skaters IMO.

It'll be interesting to see who Cody partners with. I didn't know Brodeur was looking. I'm not sure this would be the best but can't think of another right now..................

Was so bittersweet to see Annabelle fight back so hard from injury and not look satisfied with her skates at the Olympics.

A real competitor and Canada will proudly remember her as another in a line of top tough Canadian pairs ladies.

This was a no-brainer: Belbin & Agosto have officially retired.

a news release came announcing Craig Buntin's retirement. I thought this was decided months ago and Meaghan had partnerd with Radford almost immediately after Worlds? Was Craig looking for a new partner and just now decided to retire?

Craig & Meagan had a number of gala and club carnival commitments after 4CC. Craig waited until after all of their show commitments had been completed to make the official announcement of his retirement.

Meagan and Eric have been practicing together for months and preparing for the new season, while Meagan completed her show commitments with Craig.

That makes sense - thanks for the info.

I look forward to seeing Meaghan and Radford! Hope her back is ok.
