2020 World Championships, Montreal, CAN -- CANCELLED

The decision was taken by the government of Quebec, it seems, not by the ISU or Skate Canada.

Disappointing, but not surprising. :(

We'll have to see what the ISU does about placements for next season, which are usually based on how each country's skaters performs at Worlds.

Such disappointment. However, with today's technology might it not be possible for skaters to perform at their own home rinks and the judges could be online too? No one would have to leave their home towns. Obviously not ideal but they have been working so hard.

Not a good solution. Ice skating needs to be seen live to be able to discern speed, flow, ice coverage. Some skaters who look so good on TV, really don't look that live.
