This season has NOT lacked an element of surprise, that is for sure.

I've read that Hanyu is not yet back on this ice after his injury.

Medvedeva is making the right decision here I think (one that surely she has more insight on that me, hahaha) though I do worry about her stamina when she does get back on the ice.

I hope both skaters are fit for the games, would be such a letdown for them and us if they can't compete at their abilities.

Smart moves on both Hanyu's and Medvedeva's parts: focusing on getting healthy for Pyeongchang should be the priority, though their respective biggest threats to the Olympic Gold are their countrymates (Uno and Zagitova, respectively).

I'd be surprised if the ladies Olympians from Russia were NOT Medvedeva, Zagitova, and Sotskova. Olympic men's skaters from Russia should be Kolyada and either Sergei Voronov OR Alexander Samarin. Oddly enough, I think the most exciting battle within the Russian battle is for the third pairs spot.

Japanese ladies will be pretty epic and I'm hoping to see some stellar skates from some this fierce and hungry group of ladies. Wakaba Higuchi and Kaori Sakamoto are my personal picks for this season, though Higuchi definitely succumbed to nerves at the Grand Prix Final.

Your thoughts...
