France has announced that they won't send any athletes to Pyeongchang if security can't be assured. :cry:

God, this is depressing. I've been looking forward to this Olympics for years, and now it looks like it might be spoiled by power-hungry showboating politicians.

I agree, Virginia. My first reaction was "There goes the ice dance competition". But I have to agree with France.

Doesn't that go without saying though? It is obvious a country would not send athletes if they thought they would not be safe?

Sorry folks, had to delete a few posts, things were getting a little too political. The topic is obviously relevant but please don't stray into the personalities of the various politicians involved..... on all sides. We can also do without geopolitical history lessons as they are also never quite as simple as presented.

agreed, sideadmin. We all know who the major players are in this case; no need to name names.

I have a brother who's a US Navy fighter pilot stationed in the Pacific, so I can't say I'm not worried. And about a lot more than just the Olympics.
