My guess is he needs the ISU senior TES minimums for the GP. His previous comp was the warmup for this one.

Karen CHEN just scored a whopping 218 points easily winning Glacier Falls. Will she still make the cross-country trip to Philly? Is 250 ISU points enough of a lure?

Saw clips of the men:

Looks like both Max Aaron and Grant Hochstein are using "Phantom of the Opera" for their FS. I prefer the latter's better.

Speaking of Max Aaron, looks like he's going for 4Sal and 4toe in his SP and then two of each in the FS. Not the best showing out here and while we can say it's only the first week of August, I think that Max is someone who needs to bang it out each time to make the strongest case possible for him for Pyeongchang.

Love, love, loved Andrew Torgashev's SP. The bladework, the spins, and just how the elements (albeit jumps were amiss) just flowed. Yeah, it's Moonlight Sonata, but I honestly would rank this up there w/G&G's if he hits! Can't wait to see his FS.

Hopefully some of the ladies' clips show up.

Your thoughts...

Can't say I'm a Max Aaron fan---every year I hope to see an improvement in his jumping and his presentation, but it seems neither has improved at all. His jumping was actually better 2-3 years ago, and there still isn't any much of any presentation. His music choices are baffling, because they demand presentation skills that he just doesn't have. POTO suits Grant Hochstein perfectly---Grant can interpret all the emotion in the piece with his whole body and audiences will relate to his performance whether he lands all his jumps or not. I've seen audiences give Grant standing ovations for even technically flawed outings. Audiences will be behind Max only if he lands all his jumps.

I love Alexei Krasnozhon, and his SP was excellent. However, he needs to ditch the FS---it is beyond awful. His first JGP event is less than 3 weeks away, and that FS is not anywhere near competition ready. I'm a bit concerned about Camden Pulkinen, too--he has one more week than Alexei for his JGP event, but both of his programs need work.
