OMG! Anna Pogorilaya was SO underscored! Medvedeva was amazing, Ashley was blah. Osmond was good, but not for 75. Didn't see Daleman yet. Dabin Choi was lovely! First impressions of Ladies SP.

Oh, Canada!! Osmond and Daleman BOTH killed it and are deservedly in World medal position! Here's another big test for Osmond.

The Americans are within the magic number 13 and both US Champs are within striking distance of the podium. It was probably an intentional strategy, but Wagner looked to me as if she skated simply to get through it. She did -- and the scores and placement rightfully reflect that simple fact. The six skaters currently ahead of her all had more difficult and more solidly executed element and/or skated with more speed, stank, and mojo. If Wagner wants another World medal, however, she'll need to throw all caution to the wind and attack with all guns blazing like she did in Boston. Similarly, if I were Karen Chen, I'd take this opportunity to gun for the podium and establish myself as THE inarguable top US lady. Lastly, Mariah Bell is within striking distance of a top 10 finish in her Worlds debut, so let's hope she guns for it too.

Your thoughts...

The Canadian ladies skate last in the FS, and right after Medvedeva---that's a huge load of pressure.

Karen Chen skates second, after Sotskova---a far easier start position. If she can handle herself the way she did in the SP, the US can hold onto its 3 spots.

Only 16 pairs in the FS? I thought it would be 20 pairs...

Since Denney and Frazier did not make the final does that mean the US only gets one pair next year?

Javier's SP was one of the best EVER! Memorable!

I'm also impressed with Hanyu. He had a decent SP and one mistake in the 4S that was considered a fall, by the judges. By seeing his reaction in the K&C, looked like he didn't agree with the deduction. IMO, it was not a fall. What do you think?

Depends where the Knierims place in the FS. The magic number for 2 is 28.

A pair who doesn't make the final counts as 18. If the Knierims place 10th or lower (18+10=28), the US will still have 2 pairs for next season. If they place 11th, only 1 (11+18=29).

The deduction for Hanyu was for a late start, not a fall...He took too long to get to his opening pose.

I have to say; never have I seen such high quality men's SP lately. Javi was just sublime and Patrick did te best he could with his repertoire.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Good news for Canada: Sally REHORICK is on the panel for the PAIRS FS.
Bad news for Canada: also on the panel for the PAIRS FS: Feng HANG (CHN), FIODOROVA (BLR), FOMINA (RUS)

Wonderful Men's competition today! A real joy to watch, with few falls and major mistakes especially in the last two flights. Great programs from Fernandez, Uno and Hanyu particularly.

Also a real treat (for those of us in Europe) to be able to watch it live at a sociable hour! Back to the TV now for the Pairs Final!

Shouldn't Aliona landed throw Salhow on two foot, I think they would have won!
To me their skating was more champions' like than Chineese.

The rest of places look fair to me. Stolbova-Klimov would be 3rd or 4th if they skated clean Short program.
