Some interesting insights on the men's event from Phil Hersh in the article below. Some influential Russian coaches are big Nathan Chen fans. Who knew?

Han YAN (CHN) has withdrawn because of his painful shoulder injury. Boyang JIN will be the only Chinese man competing at Worlds.

Too bad about Yan. I much prefer his skating to that of Jin. China is allowed two entries. I wonder why their substitute Guan did not take Jin's spot?

Maybe China is afraid with Guan, they won't be able to keep 2 spots for next year?

You know, that may be why China is sticking with just one entry. Good point.

The tech panels were announced. Chuckie will you tell us their nationalities?

Ashley Wagner left her Sweet Dreams SP and will skate East of Eden as her SP music. Finally!

If Boyang Jin finishes in the top 10 than China will have 2 spots for Olympics/Worlds 2018 no matter where Guan would finish. It doesn't make any sense from an entries perspective for China not to send a 2nd skater. The only reason that it makes sense is if they feel that their other skaters are not ready to compete.

She is. And that will be interesting, once Mariah Bell is in Helsinki too. I like Ashley's change, but she has to be amazing. Mariah has a very good SP.

I don't believe this is true. She is in Helsinki practicing her 'SWEET DREAMS' SP in the sessions. She is having some jump issues, and her spins look slow like usual. However, she reworked her SP footwork, and it is much better. Let's hope she puts it all together for the actual short program!

Let me correct myself: I just saw a video in Youtube that Ashley skates to Sweet Dreams. She didn't change her SP. What I saw yesterday may have been a triple-triple Ashley did when the music played was East of Eden, Mariah's music. My mistake, my apologies.
