That's terrible - he was finally starting to get some momentum going a year ago.

I notice that the French Grand Prix event is no longer billed as "Trophee Eric Bompard", but simply as "Trophee de France'.

Guess the Bompard department store stopped sponsoring the event. I wonder if the aborted event in Bordeaux had anything to do with that? Anyway, the competition is back in Paris this fall.

So looking through the entries it seems the Chinese pairs teams of been switched up. Cheng Peng/Hao Zhang and Xiaoyu Yu/Yang Jin have both split and re-partnering with the other pairs' partners.

Yes, that switcheroo was reported right around Worlds. Yu and Jin were reportedly not happy about it, but they had no say.

What is odd is that Sui/Han are doing the GP so soon after her surgery.

From Chinese sources, Zhang wanted a new partner and couldn't find one locally and decided to steal Yu. Their coaches Shen/Zhao supported the break-up/switch or had no say either. Most fans were not happy that sports had to be lead by political interested.

Sui/Han proved themselves worthwhile during 2016WC. Some were saying had they not, Sui might be the one skating with Zhang right now, who knows? They probably felt their partnership could be threatened if they didn't pick up quickly.

After their dismal (for them) 6th place at Worlds, he said they were sitting out the GP.

Ice Dance News:

TESTA/CSOLLEY have split (she is retiring).
They have been replaced at SC by TÖRN / PARTANEN (FIN), and at TDF by MANSOUR / CESKA (CZE).

I don't see any assignments for Kevin Reynolds. Did he retire?

Kevin could still get the Skate Canada TBD. With Nicolas Nadeau headed for the JGP, Kevin probably is the leading candidate for it.

What hurt Kevin was his failure to get both TES minimums for Worlds, so he couldn't go.

Generally speaking, Skate Canada has a skate-off at Nebelhorn for those 3rd spots. For the best idea of who is in the running, check the Nebelhorn entries.

Took another look at the ladies. The Russians haven't given Sotnikova a spot. Has she quit?

Apparently Sotnikova has opted to do shows instead of competitions, and the Russian Fed is satisfied with that.

The entries are already up for Nebelhorn, and only Liam FIRUS is listed for the men, and Firus already has a GP event----so no skate-off.
All the other entries have spots too: Daleman, Ilyuschechkina/Moscovitch and Gilles/Poirier.

There is an Artur Dmitriev on the roster. He wouldn't happen to be the son of THE Artur Dmitriev, would he?

AARON / SETTLAGE have announced their split. Madeline wants to focus on college as she intends to pursue a medical career. Max will look for a new partner. He isn't tall, so he needs a very small partner.

They have been replaced at SKATE AMERICA by Haven DENNEY and Brandon FRAZIER, who now have two GP slots.

Lots of 11th hour withdrawals:

Julia Lipnitskaya has reportedly withdrawn from Skate America as has Denis Ten. If it weren't for these random Grand Prix replacement rules, the USFSA can easily send out last-minute invites to some Canadians (ahem, Keegan Messing, ahem) who I'm sure would jump on the opportunity.

Your thoughts...
